What is a CRM system?

All businesses accumulate information about their customers, and usually this ends up being stored on all sorts of different systems; Microsoft Outlook, mobile phones, Blackberries, accounts packages, Rolodex, Filofaxes, scraps of paper and so on. This often leads to frustration when you can't find the information you need when you need it.

A CRM [which stands for Customer Relationship Management] system first and foremost is a database - an address book of contact information for people you want to keep in touch with. In the main it is focused on customer information, but it might also hold supplier details or data about partner companies and affiliates.

What sets a CRM system above other forms of information storage is that it is possible to DO things with the information that is stored. Not only can you use it like and address book or telephone directory, but you can also use the data to do different tasks.

One good example is e-marketing. Using the database you can extract contact details and use them as a mailing list for an email campaign or 'e-blast' newsletter. Subscription is managed using the CRM so people can opt in and out of receiving the messages, and you know at any point who would like you to contact them.

Why use our MiniCRM system?

Yes there are lots of CRM systems out there, some that integrate with telemarketing systems and accounts packages and so on. These may suit your needs if you want to do lots of complex campaign management. If your needs are more simple then our system may be right for you.

We developed our MiniCRM as a result of conversations and requests from our clients - most of whom are small or medium sized businesses - who wanted a simple and easy-to-use system to keep track of their customers and business contacts. The MiniCRM does just that, and integrates with MailChimp (which is our preferred e-mail marketing provider) to produce e-newsletters and e-marketing campaigns. It also creates mailing lists for mail merging with postal mailshots too.

As it's our own bespoke system we're able to add in new features and options that are requested by our clients, and because it's a subscription service it means that everyone can benefit from the new developments.
