Bill Crumbleholme
The tea boy, finance and project director.
Bill was part of the fourth generation to run a family building business in Weymouth, with a name mentioned in many humourous despatches. He dealt with a range of managerial, finance and admin tasks. On ceasing that business he took some time out to sort out his lifestyle and devote more time to his interests.

Pottery making and teaching were near the top of the list to develop from a hobby into a more sustainable enterprise. He researched new and old ways of pottery production and became inspired by ancient ceramic techniques. He works with archaeologists and museums, making replica urns and beakers and also conducting experiments into methods of making and firing pottering in ancient ways.
You can find out more about Bill's pottery by visiting the websites of the Upwey Potters and the Beaker Folk .

Bill Crumbleholme : Beaker. One of Bill's favourite shapes, with decoration applied by pressing a comb into the soft clay. An ideal drinking vessel!
He also became more involved with arts administration, notably with the organisation of the Dorset Art Weeks in 1998, 2000 and again in 2004. He has also worked as a consultant for the Arts Council within the Artist Lead Initiative Advisory Scheme (ALIAS), then setting up and managing the SW Open Studios CIC.
Bill is passionate about working with creative people in groups to further their collective aims. He is currently working on projects with the Jurassic Coast and the 2012 Cultural Olympiad.
Bill grew up near, in or on the sea. He sailed with his family as a kid and was almost a professional windsurfer as a young man. He now limits his seaside activities to beach fishing, as part of his drive to feed himself sustainably - his garden providing the greens!

Mackerel : fresh from Chesil Beach. A good catch makes it all worth while, plus the fresh air, the scenery, the taste ....
Bill teamed up with Jon after teaching him and his son some pottery skills, realising they had common interests and outlooks and could help each other develop.
